Set up in the 1950s, Mourne Textiles is one of the oldest and last remaining handloom weaving workshops still in production in Northern Ireland. The Mourne Textiles workshop sits on the shores of Carlingford Lough, that divides the Mourne Mountains in the North of Ireland and the Colley Mountains in the South. The varied fabrics produced by the workshop, with their mixes of pebbly greys, blues, soft golds and greens, peaty browns and natural whites with speckles of colour throughout, evoke the colours and textures of this rich and inspiring landscape.

Master weaver Karen Hay-Edie runs the Mourne Textiles workshop where she produces unique and well-renowned retro designs as well as accepting and developing new commissions or designs to match existing interiors. Products range from curtain, cushion and furnishing fabrics, to place mats, rugs and wall hangings.

The workshop has a number of handlooms, some custom designed, and offers creative weaving holidays for those who would like to try their hand at mixing colours and textures under the expert guidance of Karen Hay-Edie and fellow master weaver Leonora Dand.
